Here are some reviews of the Philips PD7042 our selected best portable DVD player.
Review: rob mto 31-08-2010: We now have the best portable DVD player on vacation. The children (1.10 and 12 years) still love the back seat!
Sound quality: good, can be loud enough, but fortunately not so loud that it is shrill.
Picture quality: not as sharp as a screen of a mobile or digital camera, but easy to view, with regular films. Beautiful and bright colors (still looks nice when the sun shines)
Options: 2 movies simultaneously playing is of course great, there is a battery, and if the player is switched off, the movie just continues where " it was stopped. Fair amount of accessories included. Too bad there is not a cable to bring them to a TV to connect.
Ease of use: the children (well, the elders) could use it without help from parents and self-control so that's okay. Battery lasts a long time. Too bad the attachment does not fit our head. DVDs with scratches plays better than the player that we have at home.
Appearance: shiny black plastic, but pretty sensitive to greasy fingers. Sleek design.
Super DVD player! Mark 9.
Review, Jacky T, 30-08-2010: The battery that is incorporated in each screen is a big plus! It also is easy to see the system and it is beautiful.
All in all very pleased with this!
+ The battery is a plus and a reason for buying.
+ The absence of a remote I find totally unimportant.
Why:
A) The screens are so small that you do not need a remote (you're already there with your nose on top of it) and
B) In the car on the screen you'll still be looking to start the DVD or set. My children are now too small and if they are so great that they themselves will claim A) come into play!
+ The confirmation of the screens on the headrests has yielded no problem in my Toyota Avensis.
+ Operation is easy and the fact that each screen has its own player is also an advantage (particularly as regards the future as the children get older).
For me a good, robust system that has been fun and this makes it the best portable DVD player. Mark 9
